Commonwealth games scam is one of the worst thing done by UPA goverenment. This scam occured in 2010 Commonwealth games held in New Delhi. The total value of the scam is estimated to be 70,000 crore.

The main accused is one of the Congress party representative and the Chairman of the Organising Committee Suresh Kalmadi. But that time chief minister Sheila Dikshit is also responsible for the whole scam.

Some points:

the Games causing a loss of Rs 95 crore to the exchequer.
Also in CAG report blames PMO for the appointment of Suresh Kalmadi as CWG chief. In one report it was mentioned that Suresh Kalmadi was appointed CWG OC Chairman on PMO's recommendation of December 2004 despite objections from then sports minister.

According to the CAG report, Sheila Dikshit has been blamed of costing the treasury Rs 31 crores in losses by approving inflated contracts (street lighting) during the preparations of the Commonwealth Games.

CAG has also accused the Delhi government of making the losses by deciding to use imported street lighting for the Games held here in October last year.

Also CAG report says: Streetscaping and beautification... awarded and executed in an ad-hoc and arbitrary manner confirm waste of public funds totalling Rs 101.02 crore. and The decision to use imported luminaries in streetlighting work by three agencies — PWD, MCD and NDMC — resulted in extra expenditure of Rs 31.07 crore.

Also Delhi Development Authority gave a package of Rs 766 crore to  Emaar MGF for construction of 1,168 flats in the Commonwealth Games Village.

There are also irregularities in the project for construction of Rs 620 crore Barapullah Nullah flyover for the Commonwealth Games.

The Shunglu Committee had reported that the Delhi Government spent nearly 30000 crore rupees, earlier they had to spend nearly 500-700 crore rupees. The funds of SC and ST were also spent, 900 crore rupees were spent on Connaught Place. CAG had noted that the funds were spent in a wrong way,

After that Suresh Kalmadi was arrested on 25th April 2011 and also suspend from Indian National Congress. On January 18, 2012 Suresh Kalmadi was granted bail by the Delhi High Court. And now he is enjoying his life with our money.
