According to IBN report:

The West Bengal government transferred a senior IPS officer who had arrested a serving IAS officer for corruption. IPS officer and former Siliguri police commissioner K Jayaraman arrested Malda District Magistrate Godala Kiran Kumar for allegedly embezzling government money sanctioned for civil projects to the tune of Rs 100 crore.


West Bengal Chief Secretary Sanjay Mitra said: "He was arrested without our consent. We had no prior information about this. The Siliguri police commissioner exceeded his brief and acted outside his jurisdiction. We have asked him to step down and have summoned him to meet the DGP in Kolkata".
